field exercises

Part of the SEACoast mission is to encourage multidisciplinary attention to anthropogenic land and seascapes and to bring diverse scholars together to better understand coastal interactions. As part of this mission we host semi-regular “field exercises” where we gather for joint natural history field trips, share insights and methods, and work to better understand coastal interactions at work here in California.

The photos below are from our most recent Field Exercise in February 2022, in which Andrew Mathews taught us how to recognize and observe the post-fire landscapes in Bonny Doon Ecological Reserve, where the 2008 Martin Fire hit.
